What is a "knit stitch"?

A knit stitch is a basic stitch used in knitting and is created by pulling a loop of yarn through an existing loop on the needle, which results in a series of interlocking loops that create a flexible and stretchy fabric. In this stitch, the working yarn is held at the back of the work, and the needle is inserted from the front to the back of the first stitch on the left-hand needle, passed under the left-hand needle, and then pulled through, creating a new stitch on the right-hand needle. This stitch is commonly used in a wide range of knitting projects, from simple scarves to intricate sweaters and blankets.
